Available to read online, the slang of 200 years ago.

So whichAny that ones appealed to you, Tric? Any that might bear reintroducing? I am not being lazy but no time to do it myself just at the moment. Good to see you back here.

Thanks for the link Trike, it is interesting that some of the terms are still in use today, 200yrs later.

Some of it is quite surprising, eg "Bears" and "Bulls" as stockmarket terms.

I'd have expected them to have been 20th century American, but they were being used 200 years ago in London.

Can only manage occasional posts, Priscilla, usually on Friday afternoons.

Great find, Trike. I will read it at my leisure later.

A brief scan through the entries reveals some very prosaic modern terminology - one aspect to time travel that the fantasy authors definitely overlook. If any of us were transported back to London in 1811 we'd be causing offence left, right and centre with even our most determined attempts at politeness!

On the other hand there are some incredibly witty and descriptive terms in there too which would still work. One wonders how or why they ever fell out of use?

To be perfectly honest, it was in The Sun
